How to make a nightclub in your home
Making a nightclub in your home for a party doesn't have to cost thousands of dollars.
We've had lots of phone calls and emails from parents wanting to create a temporary nightclub effect in their homes for theirs children's birthday parties. Most of these enquires wanted to know about UV, paints, Glow paints, and other night club must haves.
So we sat down, put our thinking caps on and came up with the following ideas, products and web sites that will help you create a great effect at minimal cost.
Always plan ahead. If you start making enquiries a few weeks before the event, you'll help avoid problems.
Do not make the temporary room to dark on the night, especially if there are young children running around. If the room is excessively dark older children or adults may accidentally walk or knock over younger children. A lot of night clubs these days have rooms that are still easily scanned by security staff.
Ask an adult to keep a watchful eye on the front gate, and make sure the party host knows all guests. We don't want gate crashers spoiling the party, and having someone watching the front gate will help avoid any guests sneaking off. It may be a good idea to inform the local police also. If you want to be a nice neighbor, and avoid conflict or bad feeling, you should inform neighbors of the party and it's expected ending time. We believe alcohol is a no no and should be avoided.
One UV black light wont cut it; the more you have the more realistic the room scenes will be; but don't waste money by over doing the lighting. And remember there are different types of lights reflectors etc.
To get a feel for the contents and look of a night club, either visit your local night club, or ask a local teen who attends your local Blue light disco.
For party supplies we suggest you visit My Fancy Dress Costume They have glow sticks, and other party wear, some exclusive to that site. They have lots of weird and wonderful items that will add to the nights experience. As we are linked to that site we highly recommend it.
UV Black light globes can be purchased from Dick Smith Electronics and some electrical stores. If you think you may have a use for them in the future, you'll be better of buying your UV Black lights, as we have been informed that they can be expensive to hire.
Having a Theme for the night.
To add to the night you could ask attendees to come dress in some fancy dress theme. Some Night clubs often have patrons come in fancy dress. You could also ask all attendee's to wear white. White will glow under UV black lights, adding to the experience.

Face and body paint - non toxic and plenty of fun. Visit My Fancy Dress Costume Not an essential but can add to the experience.
